Real Wedding - Jenny + Philip - Greenhouse on Harvard

We don’t know about you, but we LOVE seeing a bride’s vision for her wedding day come together, down to the very last detail. For this sweet couple, their vision for a classy, timeless wedding aesthetic came together perfectly and we had so much fun getting to help them make it happen.
Let’s get into it! Come along with us as we dive into all the details, process and highlights of Jenny and Philip’s mid-July, monochrome wedding.
The Couple
We first connected with Jenny and Philip about their wedding over dinner and beers at a brewery for their planning meeting two months out from the big day. Right off the bat, they were such a lovely couple to work with. From the beginning, we could tell their wedding felt like such a team effort. Both partners were present at our first meeting which was so refreshing, as we often end up only meeting with one and not the other. When it came to the vision, Jenny already had a strong idea of what she wanted her wedding day to look like. Philip provided the calming presence and voice of reason while also being the supportive hype man for the elements she was excited about. Ultimately, what was important to the couple was spending time with their people and of course, their little Dachshund, Franklin (who also happened to be the “ring bearer”).
The Vibe
Classy and timeless are just a few ways to describe the vibe that Jenny was going for. Her vision featured a monochrome, all-black color palette down to the smallest details including black candle holders and black LED lamps with contrasting all white florals. The venue that the couple chose, Greenhouse on Harvard, complimented the aesthetic perfectly with the greenhouse being all white. The venue provided weathered white tables and black chairs for the day that matched the vibe perfectly which was so meant to be! Our team took care of managing all of the bride’s personal decor, as well as rented decor from Pine & Poppy keeping everything separate and organized so it ended up in the right places at the end of the night.
This wedding took black-tie attire to a whole new level, asking guests to come dressed in all black to create the timeless aesthetic that the couple had envisioned. Both bride and groom were dressed in all white which provided a fun, unique touch to the whole look. While our team was ready to seat people towards the outside of the ceremony if they didn’t arrive following the dress code, the guests totally understood the assignment looking amazing in their sleek all-black attire.
The Details
The magic is in the details and for this wedding, keeping to the monochrome black color palette was what really pulled everything together. The couple really paid attention to every detail including keeping their guests comfortable in the July heat. From passed appetizers to a water station and plenty of water bottles, Jenny and Philip’s guests stayed cool and hydrated in the shade. We always love being able to keep the bride and groom topped up on water and drinks throughout the night and even bringing them an appetizer plate while they take photos after the ceremony.
Something we take pride in is creating a seamless experience for the bride, groom, their families and all their guests. We set all the tables ahead of time and kept them behind the gate during the ceremony so guests could sit and enjoy the ceremony without being distracted by the tables around. Once the ceremony finished, we moved each table into the reception area during cocktail hour. Shout out to the lovely Beacon Hill Catering staff who helped fill waters and place the finishing touches on the tables!
One of the cutest little details of the day that we just have to mention is that the couple gave out Mott’s fruit snacks as party favors because Philip’s last name is Mott.
The Highlights
The dance floor was such a highlight at this wedding, it was so important to the bride and groom that they had time to dance the night away with their people. Our team worked hard to keep the timeline on track throughout the night so they had plenty of time to party! And after they finished getting sunset photos, that’s exactly what they did. Jenny had a quick outfit change for dancing, into the cutest sparkly dress with white cowboy boots and she looked absolutely fabulous!
The dance floor wasn’t the only thing that was a hit that night, the homemade mini cheesecakes had guests raving. A family friend of the couple made all the desserts and they turned out amazing! We had everything prepped and ready to help set everything out as efficiently as possible and we took care of replenishing throughout the night so the baker could enjoy her time at the wedding as a guest.
There were so many moments from this night that had us smiling, laughing and definitely a few that had us tearing up. One of the most special moments of the night was when Jenny dedicated her bouquet to her mom; not a dry eye in the house.
The Village
We all know the saying “it takes a village” and it's especially true for weddings. In addition to the Driftwood team, Jenny and Philip had an amazing team of people behind them helping to make sure their special day was executed to perfection!

We were so thankful for the team of vendors that had our backs at this wedding, especially when the windy weather brought some unexpected challenges. An hour before the ceremony, the seating chart sign, a heavy metal and solid wood piece, went crashing down. Jenny saw the whole thing happen but she knew she could keep enjoying herself while our team took care of it. Our bartender for the day happened to have a power drill and tools in his truck and he was able to put it back together! It truly was a whole team effort, an awesome group of groomsmen jumped right in to help us clean up the broken glass and switch out some of the frames that had broken. Luckily, Jenny had brought extra frames for her seating chart so we were able to replace damaged ones and fixed some other small chips and dents with a permanent marker. All was well and we were just happy no one got hurt!
It’s moments like these that show how essential it is to have a day-of coordinator run things on your wedding day. Because all you should have to worry about is celebrating, tearing it up on the dancefloor and spending time with the people you love. We’re here to take care of the rest.
